“My studio is a meeting place where people come together to gain food for thought in a creative atmosphere – and to give it themselves.” The Schmuck Design Objekte® studio in Stein near Nuremberg was founded in 1992 by Beatrice Müller and is the place to go for jewelry lovers from all over the world. Here, the master goldsmith and state-certified jewelry designer transforms her inexhaustible wealth of ideas into pieces of jewelry and accessories.
Her work always focuses on the interaction between jewelry, the wearer and the outside world. There is a message behind every piece. Literature, politics and current affairs provide inexhaustible inspiration for new jewelry ideas. Enriched with her own experiences and feelings, they find expression in massive, powerful or delicate creations, and are literally made “tangible” by Beatrice Müller.
The “Antennas“, for example, were created after the events of September 11, 2001, and are a symbol of interpersonal communication, of sending and receiving signals.
Beatrice Müller’s artistic free spirit is also evident in her unconventional use of materials: for her, the ideal value counts and so concrete, for example, became the material for the “Milestone” theme, she used lava stone for “Sir Lanzerot” and brass is the basis of the CuNz-x collection, which was “born” in times of Corona.
Jewelry design is more than just making a necklace, a pair of earrings or a ring out of silver or gold. Above all, when it comes to individual jewelry design, the piece of jewelry made should emphasize the wearer’s being and expression. Handmade jewelry is alive, makes the wearer shine and tells a piece of personal history. Behind this is a creative process that begins with an idea, an inspiration. It can be a word in a conversation with a customer that makes something resonate in the jewelry designer. A gesture, a look from a couple who have opted for wedding rings of a special kind. These rings are not just a store-bought symbol by which any outsider can recognize that these two belong together and are lovers. Jewelry design ensures that every ring tells a story – the personal story of how two become one.
Every Beatrice Müller collection tells a different story. Jewelry has an attractive effect on other people and supports us in our communication. It always expresses something. Off-the-peg watches can therefore serve as a simple timepiece. An individually designed watch, on the other hand, can express how we deal with our (life) time and is at the same time a time marker in a phase of our lives. Pendants also have a symbolic character. We are attached to something or people want to hang something on us. With a deliberately chosen pendant, we hang something on ourselves. The design that suits the wearer can therefore easily make an inner value visible to others – sometimes cuddly, sometimes protective, sometimes rebellious. This begins with the selection of suitable materials such as stainless steel, silver, gold or platinum, and continues with the shape, size and decorative accessories such as gemstones, right through to the structure: smooth, structured, curved, with corners and edges – as individual as the wearer’s own personality.
